So just for a moment ... let's consider the 4th dimension...  OK since this is the Einstein site for the common man I will try and make it easy to understand...

Imaging you are driving a car along a road that is one hundred miles long.  You are sitting behind the steering wheel looking out through the windows and loving the experience, hating the experience, being bored, getting excited... you know whatever a journey does to you when the unexpected comes along.  A ball in the road with a child going after it!  A near mis collision with another driver.  A good looking driver waiving at you as they go by.  beautiful scenery to the side.  A yummy diner just up the road at a distance.  A relieving gas station not too far away and many more experiences along the trip.

Consider your life experience as this long road.  The start of your journey is birth and the end of the road, your death.  It all comes to you as you drive your car down the road.  You see one event after the other and each new event is a new experience to you.  Most events are to your liking or at least they do their job in capturing your attention even if they are undesirable.  Chances are you will partake in what is offered to you along the journey and if not it's because you simple just choose to have more will power over the temptation to get caught up in the experience.  As you move along this road, your experiences come to you one moment after the other as time ticks on... You are in the 3rd dimension

Now let's look at this road from a different perspective...

You are not in a car and you are not even near the road but instead you are off some great distance to the side of the road... in fact you are off at such a distance that you can see all of the road from it's beginning to it's end.  You are in possession of a very powerful telescope that enlarges the entire scene from the roads beginning to its end and along with that you have a camera that takes pictures of the entire road moment by moment.  This is a very special camera in that it takes many pictures at the quantum speed of time so that it breaks time up into very little pieces but it superimposes each picture with great clarity one over the next.  One day you decide to observe the road and you see that there is only one traveler on the road... you start your special camera up and begin taking pictures of this traveler's journey as he or she moves along the 100 mile stretch of road.  When the traveler finishes the journey you stop and look at the finished picture and you see that the road and all of it's surroundings are crystal clear.  Next you observe that the traveler has images of himself or herself imposed upon the film every moment of the way during the journey so that the image you are looking at has the traveler in every position of the road from beginning to end so that it looks as if there are millions of images of the traveler all along the road.

You now want to isolate just one image of the traveler at the 20 mile mark and you remember that while you were reading the owners manual of the camera it had a special feature.  Every picture that it took would be layered one upon the other and the camera would give you the ability to move down through the layers of pictures and look at just one instance in time instead of all instances of time at once... So you choose to look at just the 20 mile mark picture and you see that the traveler had stopped the car and gotten out for a bite of food at the diner.  You then decided to thumb through the camera images that were layered one on top of the other until you came to the 60 mile marker.  This activity to you seems as simple as thumbing through the pages of a transparent book such as one made up of film transparencies until you get to the image you want to look more closely at.

Because of how your camera takes pictures, you can either look at just one image or at all of them at the same time and both choices with great clarity.  When you look at just one image you see only one instance of the traveler in whatever time marker you choose but when you view all the images one over the other, you see the traveler's images moment by moment as the traveler moves along the 100 mile road.  You are in the 4th dimension when you can perceive the entire road and all of the moments in time at once.

The next step is where everything becomes fun!!!!

Your camera is not just a camera but it is also a teleporter that will take you out to the road to meet with the traveler at any mile marker in time you choose to go to.  As long as you are stepping from the 4th dimension into the 3rd dimension and back and forth between the two dimensions you will see that you have achieved  T I M E  T R A V E L ! ! !
